Structural steel & fabrication contractors

Steel project control, from tonnage ordered to steel erected.

Structural work runs on tonnes, member marks and drawing revisions. TraceGrid tracks material from the mill order through fabrication and erection, and prices every change to the drawings before it costs you.

Illustration: steel for pipe rack 3B tracked by tonnage from ordered to erected, with bracing late and a variation for an extra platform awaiting approval.

The pressure you work under

Tonnes on paper, steel in the yard.

  • Material ordered against an old revision

Drawings change after the order goes out. Without original and revised quantities side by side, the yard ends up short on one section and long on another.

  • Fabrication progress nobody can see

The shop knows what is cut, drilled and painted. Site and the client only find out when a load arrives, or does not.

  • Erection waiting on the last few pieces

A missing brace or cleat holds up a whole bay. Finding out on the day costs crane hours and crew time.

  • Variations priced long after the steel went up

Extra platforms, revised connections and site modifications get built first and argued later, usually at a discount.

How TraceGrid helps

One record from mill order to final bolt.

  1. 1

Set up the job by tonnage and mark

Import the steel schedule as a BOQ with sections, marks and tonnes, and keep the client's numbering.

  2. 2

Buy sections and plate against what is needed

RFQs follow the unordered tonnage per section. Lead times are checked against erection dates, and late orders are flagged early.

  3. 3

Follow the steel from shop to site

Received, fabricated and erected tonnes are captured as the work moves from the yard to site, so the office, the site and the client see the same picture.

  4. 4

Price the change before you build it

Each drawing change becomes a variation with its tonnage and value previewed, approved and carried through to the claim.
